Whoa, it's been a while since my last post.
I might as well tell you that the Features page is now redone, and that
means that the whole site is, for all intents and purposes, 100% updated.
That only took a month and a half.
Day off and there's no Star Trek reruns. No DS9 or TNG for me today, Spike decided to run nothing but swimsuit model programming. I may be the only (straight) guy I know who would complain about this sort of thing, but they've gotten up to the last season of DS9, which means a ton of things blowing up. The NBA All-Star game was on last night, and for the most part, it hat its moments. Vince Carter lit it up more than anyone else, I think. But without hockey this year (and I don't care what you might hear about talks resuming, it'll never happen) I've started to pay attention to basketball again, and things are pretty exciting right now. James, Wade, and the rest of the crop of new guys over the last two years have given the league a serious injection of star power that was really needed. The game has changed in a lot of ways over the last ten years, but it's still exciting to watch nonetheless. |

Hey fools, I just finished updating the About
page to make it a little more respectable. I guess this just leaves
the features page to be redone and then I guess it's all 100% done.
Reactions to Victory Clipz Vol. 3 have been very good from what I've gathered. If you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for? The hockey season? I think not!! Pitchers and catchers reported to camp for my New York Yankees today, and that makes me very happy indeed. Just knowing that my man Tino Martinez is back in town has me really pumped for the season to get underway. More pumped than any of our other offseason moves, and that's saying a lot. As for the Giambi/steroid thing, it's going to be an obnoxious ride I'm sure. The Jose Canseco book thing is just his attempt to cash in on the issue. What I can't believe is the fact that he's gone out there accusing so many players (who many of us figure were using anyway) while he hasn't really bothered to apologize for what he did to ruin the game and his reputation as a player. What an asshole. |

I've been thinking about getting the rest of
the site up to date, but I don't really feel like wrestling with tables and
fixing broken links at this time of night. I also don't feel like
finishing a music article nor start a movie article I've had in mind.
So instead, I reworked the old
Super Greg
tribute to become more, well, like me. Also, you can check out the
original Super Greg videos! Having all the bandwidth I pay for, I can
do that now! Picked up CCR's Greatest Hits the other night and I'm loving every note. I love the blues, baby. I also managed to track down the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' original EP, which I didn't think I'd find, especially at the Auburn Mall of all places. YYY certainly isn't blues, but rocks my socks just the same. Tomorrow night's a school committee meeting for us to broadcast at Channel 11! Oh boy, I can hardly wait. If you couldn't detect the sarcasm, well, that's the Internet for you. It's not that I hate doing the show, it's just that these meetings are always lengthy and can be rather tedious. Still, we plug on. |

I can't believe what I've just read here on the
good old Internet... Just cruising along minding my own business, I
checked out Greg's Previews at Yahoo. And all of a sudden, out of
nowhere, comes the headline
"Natalie Portman cast in V for Vendetta"... I'm not sure if
I talked about V for Vendetta back when I read it, so I'll recap
right here. V4V (as Darryl and I call it) is a graphic novel
written by Alan Moore about an alternate-universe Great Britain, in which
fascists take over and a masked man goes around fighting the government.
It's very dark, but really cool. So back to why I was floored by the
news... after reading the book, I whipped up this "movie poster" and had it
on the intro page for a couple of weeks...
Aha! See? I figured that the best fit for the role of Evey would be Natalie Portman. I was just really surprised that (A) the book is actually going to be made into a movie and (B) that they had the same idea for casting as myself. My only hope is that the Wachowskis (the minds behind The Matrix Trilogy) stayed true to what makes V4V great when they wrote the screenplay. Also, they won't be directing, but the guy who will was big time behind the scenes at The Matrix and Star Wars II and III. Darryl's not thrilled about the adaptation, but I'm excited. Especially any time Natalie is in a movie... :) And it finally got around to snowing out there! How about that? |

Yes indeed, friends, the New England Patriots
are Super Bowl Champions yet again. For the first three quarters, I
really thought we had drawn a serious opponent in the Philadelphia Eagles...
they hit just as hard as we did, they had a talented scrambling quarterback
in Donovan McNabb, and Terrell Owens was indeed in playing condition.
However, when the clock started winding down in the fourth, I sat there
stupefied by Philly's failure to call a time out. They're down by ten
points and just let the clock tick away. I don't mean to say that the
Pats didn't deserve the win, because they certainly did. And it was
great to see Bill Belichick finally enjoy himself when the game was over. I was
really starting to worry about the guy.

They made me shave again. Just when you
think that they've relaxed some policies to make way for new ones, your
favorite change goes out the window. Okay, so having a beard wasn't
the best thing about the Hannaford takeover, but at least I was able to
forego shaving for longer amounts of time. However, I guess this means
that I'll have to put "Half-Life: The Movie" on the back burner. That
was my secret video project I had hoped to put together in the back of the
store with a couple of co-workers and a plastic lobster. You can't be
Gordon Freeman without a goatee!
In other news, Fran does indeed have mono, which makes for interesting accommodations at home. Question: Does anyone know the song that plays a lot at work with the BITCHIN' saxophone solo? I remember Phil telling me it was a Jefferson Starship song (maybe he told me it was called "Fast Buck Freddie" but I don't think that was the one), but I don't see him much these days. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, that would be great. |

The Archives are now up to snuff as it might
be, and you can access the .zip file I made of the older posts from 2003
back. Not that you'd really want to, but hey, who knows.
Lemme tell you a story about On Rye Ltd. On Rye is a 'film company' made by four friends from Jersey who love making movies together. I stumbled on their site after a visit to filmfights.com, a site that allows you to enter a movie of your own for public approval. On Rye had just won a fight and I decided to watch it. After that, I found myself staying tuned to their site so I could watch every one of their movies and vote for them in the fights, regardless of the competition. They're that funny. Unfortunately, just as I was planning to tell everyone how cool they are, they've decided to call it quits, but their site is still up. I urge you kids to check out their usually funny and sometimes absurd movies, as long as you're not easily offended. Tee hee. Everyone around me is getting sick, and I'm finally coming down with a cold. KNOCK ON WOOD. Just to be safe, of course. Fran's been pretty blah all week, and she went to the doctor today. She might actually have mono, and we all know what that's like. Well, not me, I never had it. KNOCK ON WOOD. Right on, right on. Tomorrow's Groundhog's Day... that little guy had better have some good news! |
