The GeoCities Scary Rocket Kid
This might take a while to explain

Not too long ago, I finally upgraded NP1 to the full domain service that Yahoo GeoCities®™ offers for an exceptionally low price, giving me added bonuses of better bandwidth, more disk space, FTP access, and of course, my newpageone.com domain name.  It's all very exciting, isn't it?  Of course it is.  Anyhow, even though I haven't made huge changes around here, Yahoo has been overhauling the look of their sites and other Internet territories, as is their wont.  It seems that Yahoo likes changing their look all the time, like, on a bi-monthly schedule.  And what's more, things never seem to really change.  The search field is always in the same place, the buttons at the top are always there, hardly ever changing positions, the news is always displayed in the same spot, just with different fonts and sizes and whatnot.

Anyhow, I still login at the GeoCities®™ page to upload most of the time, unless it's a huge file that FTP would work better for.  Well, it seems that the login page has also undergone changes.  It threw me for a bit of a loop, since just about everything on it was different for once.  What's more, there's an animated GIF on the left that lets you imagine the possibilities of your own website.  Although about 10% of the people who use GeoCities®™ use it like I do, or how they'd like you to use it, I guess, 90% of users post as much annoying crap they can.  This kind of crap usually includes, but is not limited to:

Oh well, that's just a rant on how bad most people's websites look.  The animated GIF in question caught my attention with its first frame.  I liked it so far.

It's a nice old man playing bocce!  I love old men!  I love bocce!  I imagined that this fellow lives in Comack, Long Island and has plenty of adorable grandkids, and he takes them to Carvel for ice cream on the weekend and stuff like that.  Then he goes down to the Legion Hall and plays bocce with "the boys" on Sunday after church for a couple of hours before heading home and watching the Jets game (or maybe he likes the Giants, I can't tell).  I actually said out loud, "Hey, I like that!" when the frame loaded.  But then it happened.  The frame changed and I was sent back... by... THIS.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!  What the hell?  What the hell is that?  This hideous kid pops up with a rocket.  The rocket is cool, because it's probably got the capability to blow up, but that kid is pretty damn scary!  I mean, look!

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

AAAAAAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!

That kid gives me the creeps!  Every damn time I login, I try to type in my username and password fast enough so that this kid doesn't pop back up and try to kill me with her big silver space probe.  I know she will.  I just know it.

The other frames are quite nice, though.  Here's the third:

I haven't fished since something like third grade, but I still think I like it.  Mostly because I think the lures look cool.  The picture is really well framed and shot, and the colors work really well.  I feel like those are my hands and I'm gonna catch me a catfish and then bring him home and fry him up.  But what's the caption mean?  Next time?  Who says there's gonna BE a next time, pal?  Fishing season is only so long, and they might not be biting anyway!  Sheesh.

The last picture is an Indy car.  Whoop de doo.  I like Indy racing way more than Nascar because they don't go in a circle all the time.  But that's pretty much it.  Also, they're the cars they had in Pole Position, and I always loved that game.

So there you have it.  So remember, next time you login to GeoCities®™, just remember to keep those fingers moving fast!  That kid's out to getcha!
