9.26.04 ... SOLD  [Music: Modest Mouse - Good News for People Who Love Bad News]
THE RUMORS ARE TRUE!  Victory has been sold to Hannaford of Maine... so what does this mean for us?  Well, all the Victory stores are staying open, except for the Athol store, but they were going to close anyway.  Besides, there's a Hannaford's right there in Orange anyway.  We Victory employees will also keep our jobs.  I'm not going to report on any other issues because I'm not all too clear on them, but I will say this... I don't think we're selling beer and wine anymore.  That sent me for a loop, that one.  We'll have to see.  Eventually, we'll be a Hannaford store, but it's unknown when that will actually happen.

I had a ten hour day today, so if I don't make much sense, you'll know why.

I got the Star Wars boxed set the other night at Walmart.  Quite a good value, I must say.  I'm even starting to enjoy Episode IV (I never really went out for the original film, to be honest) now that the prequels have led up to the original films so well.  I can't wait till next summer for Episode III.

9.22.04 ... NEW PAGE ONE DOT COM!  [Music: Flaming Lips - Hit to Death in the Future Head]
BIG NEWS!  New Page One is now available at newpageone.com!  I nailed the domain name down last night, and if you're reading this, that means that you've made it.  Congratulations, or something.  It's rather exciting for me, because I tried doing this last year, but it didn't work out (problems between Yahoo and my card or something like that).  No worries, though.  So go and update your bookmarks!

Amidst all that excitement last night, I also put up a video I made over on Dean's server because I didn't think my regular video depository was working.  Check out all the Mike Tyson hilarity.  Hopefully, I'll be able to host my own videos myself from now on, with all the extra bandwidth and space I get.

Sarah was cool enough a couple of weeks ago to recommend Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake.  It's quite an interesting read, if you're into science fiction or just a good yarn in general.  It's more of 'speculative fiction' than sci-fi, a story that questions whether or not humanity is ready to keep going down the road it's on as far as science is concerned.  Pretty topical stuff that's worth giving a shot in this day and age.  It's exciting, kind of disturbing, and darkly comic, all in a good balance.  Much like Brave New World, one of my all-time favorites.

9.15.04 ... I ride spinners  [Music: Eric Clapton - The Cream of Clapton]
Everyone was in a real good mood at the store tonight, for some odd reason.  I have no idea what may have caused it, but I was cool about it.  It was nice for a change.  Nicky was especially jovial.  He's almost always in a good mood, but today it was especially good... running around, telling jokes, dropping rhymes on our punk asses.

Article news... I'm working on the music article I mentioned at the beginning of the month.  The movie one is still on the shelf.  Shoulda written the reviews as I saw the movies!  Damn, damn, damn!  Hopefully I'll get it done quickly so people don't start forgetting when these movies came out.

Check out another neat website I... FOUND!  Great concept over at Found Magazine.  You'll like it too.

9.12.04 ... They're God's clowns  [Music Stand Up Comedy: Dana Gould]
The action keeps on comin' down at Victory, as usual.  Might be why I haven't added much to the site lately, and for that I'm sorry.  But this weekend was also the chicken barbeque with everyone at church, so I managed to have some fun.

Yesterday was the third anniversary of 9/11.  I feel pretty much the same way I have about it ever since it happened.  The idea of what happened still scares me, I mean, any time I see a low-flying plane I get a little edgy.  Then I just tell myself that they're headed for Worcester Airport, which is quite likely.  But it's still in the back of my mind, as it is likely in the back of everyone's mind.  I continue to support President Bush, and I plan on voting for him in November.  Quick summary: I know what he's up to, and I approve of it.  I have no idea whether or not John Kerry has any plan for the country.  That's it.  That's as far as I plan on going into politics tonight, and pretty much as far as I plan on going until November.

Meanwhile, it's football season, and the Patriots won their first game.  It was a pretty good contest, especially the Willie McGinnest sack at the end.  I think we're gonna win a lot of games again this year... maybe even yet another Super Bowl.

Okay... I'm out for now.

9.4.04 ... Everybody's workin' for the weekend!  [Music: R.E.M. - Automatic for the People]
Man, I'm working my ASS off!  I'm going to have one fat pay-Czech next week.  I just worked 8 hours today and I'm doing 6 hours time and a half tomorrow and Monday (Labor Day).  D-d-d-damn!

Spencer Fair's underway.  I saw some Demolition Derby last night... that was a good time.  I meant to video a lot of stuff, but I never got a good chance to.  I should have gotten better seats at the Derby.  But I got to eat carny-food, and bought some sweet new pins.  Hopefully, I'll be able to go again tomorrow at some point after work.

New linkage going on here... Fran introduced me to Cockeyed.com, which is one of the funniest smart sites out there.  You'll have to check it out for yourself, and you won't be disappointed.  Look for "How Much Is Inside," "Incredible Stuff I Made," and "Bad Things That Can Happen To You."

Did I mention that I killed a black widow spider at work the other night?  Holy crap, that was outta control.  It was in the upper corner in the exitway, sitting in its little web, looking incredibly creepy.  I'm not as bad about spiders as say my sister or my mother, but I don't like the big ones very much.  I mean, Spider-man's my favorite superhero, but that's about it.  I took it down with my broom and then squashed it.  I gotta tell you, it wasn't a pleasant experience.

More linkage to Dean because he did indeed get the same camera I've got and he's making video updates... very funny stuff.

9.2.04 ... Sending out an SOS  [Music: The Police - Every Breath You Take]
Man, what a day.  Things have been hectic at work and I can only guess they're gonna get worse till the Labor Day weekend is over.  It just seemed like every customer wanted to ask me where this or that was or whether or not "10 for $10" means they have to by ten bottles of cranberry juice.  Plus, Shaun pointed out to me that there was a kid huffing hairspray in aisle nine.  Now I've seen it all.

But without me, Victory is just aweso.

As for things around here at NP1, I got some stuff in the works.  Now that the summer movie season is over, that means that I have to eventually have the Summer Movie Extravaganza ready for you!  That should be a good time.  I've also got a long-overdue music article in the oven, which will cover the ten most influential albums I've ever heard.  By influential I mean, albums that have encouraged me to get into other types of music, or influenced my own musical artistry (cough).  Should be a great one.

I'm getting involved down at Channel 11, the public access station here in town.  Keep an eye out for me constantly getting in frame for the tour of the new NBHS!

ALSO!  Go see Dean and check in on whether or not Florida has been blown into the ocean by Hurricane Frances.
